Kerala’s only drive-in beach, the Muzhappilangad beach which stretches across 4 kilometres of sand where one can drive down the entire length. The drive is ideal for sampling the famed Malabar cuisine from the many eateries in the immediate hinterland.
Black rocks protect this long, clean beach from the currents of the deep, making its shallow waters a swimmer’s paradise.
The beach falls in Muzhappilangad, which is a small coastal village in Kannur district of Kerala state, India. Since the late 90′s, the beach has seen a steady influx of European tourists during winter.
But the 4-kilometer stretch of Muzhappilangad beach between Kannur and Thalassery, portrays a gloomy picture due to the lack of basic facilities.
One of the important tourist attraction, the Beach Festival is celebrated in the month of April. The youth also try many driving stunts in cars like
drifting and wheeling in bikes as this is a paradise for driving along the shore.
Adventure sports like paragliding, parasailing and microlite flights are possible at the Muzhappilangad Beach in Thalassery. Other attractions include water sports, power boating or a simple catamaran ride.
Muzhappilangad Beach can be an OPTIONAL HOLIDAY destination ONLY if you are traveling to north side of Kerala, India.
